Surratt Surreal Skin Foundation Wand

There are some brands that I dearly wish I could try in store, but it’s probably for the best that I can’t, otherwise their presence among my stash would likely reach astronomical proportions! One of these brands is Surratt Beauty, by Troy Surratt – in Canada it’s exclusively available at Sephora, but isn’t at any of the #yyc stores – so I rely a lot on the online swatches available! One of my impulse purchases last year was their Surreal Skin Foundation Wand, after seeing the finish and swatches on Beauty Professor. In the last hours of the VIB sale, I placed my order, and there has been no looking back!

At 90$ CAD, this is not a cheap foundation, it is not refillable. I *DO* think it is worth its price tag. The packaging is a weighty, sparkly black plastic foundation wand with a soft brush head, and a matching lid. I wear Shade #10, which Sephora describes as “tan with golden undertones”. This is very accurate! I don’t experience oxidation with this foundation, and I find it wears well for 10+ hours without any setting powder (but my skin is exceptionally dry, so this may not hold true for everyone).

The brush quality is fantastic – on par with several of my brushes from Hakuhodo, it provides a streak free application and blends well – the brush head is duo-fibre and small to get into tricky corners like around the nose and eyes. The foundation is dispensed with the click of a button – I find it takes one or two clicks to get the foundation to the surface of the brush head, and I then use 1 click for each cheek, 1 click for nose + chin, and 1 click for my forehead.

The convenience of not needing an extra brush is amazing! I do wash the wand after 2-3 applications with the DAISO brush cleansing shampoo, and let it air dry. It comes with a protective cap to protect the brush head from getting dirtier between use, and for travel.

The Surreal Skin foundation is exactly that – I feel like it is my skin, but better. I think this is a medium coverage foundation – I can still see my beauty marks underneath, but it provides good colour correction and a slight blurring effect! The finish is semi-dewy on me. I’ve worn it in #yyc’s dry-as-desert climate but also brought the wand with me on vacation (everywhere) and it wears well in humidity also!

I have been using this foundation almost every time I wear makeup for over a year now, and I think I might be close to finishing it – this WOULD be a definite re-purchase for me, except that I have about 5 other foundations/bases I should really finish. If they changed it so that I could just change out the foundation, and keep the brush, I’d definitely prioritize this as a repurchase!

Have you tried anything from Surratt Beauty? I really should post about their blushes, which I also love…

  1. Thanks for the review! I’d love to see one on their blushes…I’m afraid to buy any because I have a feeling I’ll get addicted (same with the eyeshadows)! I have the Surratt cheek, highlight and powder brushes and I love them all. 🙂
