I have a confession to make… I’m obsessed with macarons. I used to enviously read food blogs and wonder at these sandwich like cookies, hyping them up in my mind until I was convinced I would love them no matter what, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t find a bakery in Calgary that made them (we’re kind of slow on the trendy front) so my first taste of a ‘real’ macaron was from… 7-11. In Tokyo. I have loved them since then and the minute I hear or read the word ‘macaron’ it’s like my ears perk up and I am guaranteed to at least give the product a look.
… Even if the macaron association is tenuous at best. The lovely Rach found these Hello Kitty blushes in HK a few weeks back and of COURSE I wanted all four of them – look how cute and tiny they were! It was like someone out there was hitting all of my ‘I love _____’ buttons at once: Hello Kitty, pink, macarons, AND t he packaging had ribbons! She was kind enough to help me get all 4 colours and here I am, finally wearing them (no one ever said I was timely, haha).
These blushes are pretty tiny but they do not need to be bigger! I find the included puffs cute but superfluous but I keep them in case my blushes get banged about (they make good padding).
I can’t remember if I’ve talked about it a lot but I’m obsessed with red blush recently so I adore the 4th shade. I don’t have anything with that shot-through-with-gold in my stash, though the under-tone is a bit similar to ADDICTION’s Revenge. I love both of these blushes! I apply the HK Macaron blushes with my Rock & Republic blush – they are so pigmented that a denser, firmer brush results in clown-like cheeks – scary!
