I rarely do these, but this post was stalled for so long because I wanted to finish my Chanel foundation before opening my ADDICTION Tinted Moisturizer. Since I finished the Chanel Teinte Innocence I thought I’d try the ADDICTION TM out since I’ve only heard raves about its performance especially in hot climates, and I’m headed overseas soon!

It’s rare for me to wear one brand ENTIRELY (except for primer, eyeliner, and mascara here) so this was an interesting experience I’m loving everything so far, and after thinking about it, I knew that despite my rants and raves with other brands, ADDICTION had to be my brand for 2011 (Armani was a very VERY close second, as you can probably imagine).

ADDICTION by Ayako is a Japanese department store brand owned by KOSE. Quite a contrast to most high end JP cosmetics brands, ADDICTION uses sleek, bold packaging and bold colour palettes to differentiate itself from the rest of the market. This brand is incredibly exclusive – only available at a few counters in Japan and at a couple of re-sellers online for marked up prices!

I, however, am fortunate enough to have people who are willing to shop for me and also haunt auction like no one’s business so I’ve been able to grow my collection quite a bit!

My non-eye-items
- Tinted Moisturizer No. 5: Weirdly, unlike the rest of the base products this doesn’t have a name, but this is the darkest shade (I’m about nC37-40) so deeper skintones may be out of luck if you’re looking to try this line’s base makeup! I love the finish on this – still testing it out but it’s nice and light!
- Foundation No. 5 Cookie: I won this off of auction and it’s the right shade too, and has a corresponding powder (I don’t have that) – I only open one thing at a time though, so haven’t tried this out properly!
- The pale pink gloss, purple nail polish are from the Sleepless Nights Coffret
- Lip and Cheek stick in AMAZING – this is the hottest pink the brand offers, of course I had to buy it XD;

Eyeshadow singles and blush I thought looking at this pic would make me satisfied and let me depot them into another 6 pan palette, but it instead made me realise I had a lot of smokey/crease/liner colours and no lid colours. D’oh.

So what brand do you obsess over?

I know my FOTDs have been few and far between for the last few months as I let my skin recover from non-stop traveling but this is the look that I’ve been wearing pretty much everywhere because I’m lazy and a lot of the holiday stuff didn’t wow me eyeshadow wise:

There’s still a couple of dry patches on my cheeks but overall my skin is (thankfully) back to where it was! Look breakdown at the end of the post (you’ll have to put up with me rambling)

2011 certainly flew by! I’m grateful for so many things, but most especially my health and my family’s health. I’m also so thankful for blogging as it’s allowed me to meet so many wonderful girls! I thought about doing a year in review post but I’m honestly too lazy so instead I thought I’d share with you my beauty resolutions for 2011:

1) Keep track of what I’ve used up skin/body care wise – my finished! list has been hugely motivating for me in that I like seeing tangible proof of what I’ve used up, but hate keeping empty containers around! On average I used about 20 products/3 months, so hopefully I can keep the same pace up! I’m hoping to finish more colour cosmetics this year but I got sidetracked with skin issues and didn’t wear makeup for nearly 3 months haha

2) Depot my drugstore makeup - I found a fantastic Etsy seller that makes custom palettes out of beautifully patterned scrapbook paper and I picked up a few to depot my drugstore makeup into… and there’s also Unii palettes! Depending on what I have left I want to pick up more of these too! I think it will help streamline my collection and hopefully encourage me to use more of my ‘low-end’ stash more by keeping it all easily accessible!

3) ‘Shop’ my stash - I’m pretty good about cleaning through my stash every few months but I tend to gravitate to the same few items – need to rotate my everyday  use drawer more often! Thinking about getting one of those clear MUJI drawer sets for the top of my desk to put makeup I ‘should’ be using into so it all gets some love!

4) Paint my nails more often Thanks to a certain someone (*cough*Christine*cough*) I seem to buy more nail polish lately – my goal is to get in the habit of painting my nails during my off stretches (every other week) and change my pedicure every week!

5) Take FOTD pictures and post them in a timely manner - Initially I was going to write ‘blog more’ but that won’t happen until I get better about taking pictures so… pictures goes on the list

A kind reader suggested that I try applying the matte Infallibles with a synthetic brush (I usually use the MAC 239) and RAVED about them so I figured I might as well re-swatch all the matte L’Oreal Color Infallible Eyeshadows together if I was going to have to do half of them.

I need a bigger box

As for how they applied with the synthetic brushes, here are my thoughts:
- They did apply smoother and blend out, but this resulted in more sheer swatches, so the swatches in this post are often two+ layers, all applied with flat-domed synthetic eyeshadow brushes (I used the two from the Tokidoki 24K set)
- I haven’t figured out how you’d apply these wet. I tried with a damp brush on the black matte Infallibles but other than Enigmatic purple I couldn’t tell much of a difference and the wet application made the swatch patchier!
- I still like the metallic shades better
- If you wanted the black black matte Armani ETK, 030 Ultimate Black is a decent dupe, or you could buy Bulletproof from Sugarpill, which isn’t the same texture but is definitely matte and black.

I’m working on a big round-up post of all 25 (!) eyeshadows + the American list and what I think are dupes (thank you to everyone for sending/linking reviews to me) so look forward to that!

Your eyes do not deceive you, I am posting this again! Mostly for reference for all the lovely American beauty addicts out there who are searching for comparisons, I’ve re-swatched my entire collection of Infallibles which includes the original release, the Fall 2011/Summer 2011 release, and the most recente Winter/Holiday 2011 release. I’ve also included shade names and numbers for the 4 Infallibles I don’t have (that are on their way to me) and comparisons to the American formulation!

For reference, all of the L’Oreal Colo[u]r Infallible Eyeshadows I own are Made in Italy and were purchased in the UK, Canada, and Singapore. Several times I had colours CP’d for me that were later (much later) released in Canada, but the ingredients and labels for these were all the same (the Canadian labels also have French translations on them).

The ‘original’ release of the L’Oreal Colour Infallible Eyeshadows for most countries involved at least 6 and up to (Canada and France had the most complete) 11 colours. The most common colours ‘left out’ of other countries releases were 004 Forever Pink and 012 Endless Chocolat. Note that in Europe and Canada the shade names are sometimes different, but the numbers are all the same.

I will swatch these for you as I can! If anyone has a complete listing of Infallibles released in their country that differs from mine I’d *LOVE* to see them! I haven’t been able to get a clear response from L’Oreal (Paris, France, USA, or Canada) about a full release list past and present!

Last weekend, before Calgary was rocked by a giant windstorm, the bestie (Kelsie) and I finally had a Saturday where NEITHER of us had plans so of course I jumped on it and planned a girly day, starting with makeovers at the NARS Counter at our local Holt Renfrew and ending in the best way, with time spent at my house catching up on Kame’s drama Youkai Ningen Bem! Needless to say it was a girly, girly day, and she has only become girlier in the time we’ve spent apart. It’d been about 6 weeks since our schedules had last matched up but it was like picking up where we’d left off…

Except now she wears dresses

The NARS Holiday Colour Collection

The ‘Modern Kabuki’ collection AKA all the gift sets. These were temporarily living on the large white counter in the opening photo – I think Holt Renfrew Calgary is still figuring out if anything will take the place of the old Benefit counter permanently as the displays there are constantly changing. I’m crossing my fingers (but guarding my wallet) for Tom Ford or Burberry, neither of which are yet available in Calgary!

Base makeup (And Shauna, who I think is the NARS Alberta rep) behind the counter crazy-busy as usual!

Kelsie browsing the permanent colour line – she ended up going with browns and bronzes since she never wears them (on account that she feels she is too fair for them).

I decided to get my makeup done with the Hanamichi palette which I’d previously purchased during the Personal Shopping event but hadn’t been able to bring myself to even swatch (the pattern was too pretty)! I’m relieved to say that the tester DID look really used though and the embossing was mostly intact. I’m really pleased with how the look turned out

This is actually much softer than I typically get with a makeover but I asked Kearstin, my lovely MUA to show me how I could wear the Hanamichi palette daily. My darker skintone meant that the red shade looks more like a soft pink on me, which is absolutely perfect!

Shauna did a kick-ass job with Kelsie’s makeup, I think she looks very pin-up girl here!!

Kearstin, who was awesome and answered questions I had about NARS skincare line (I’m a huge fan of the hydrating lotion and Aqua Gel Hydrator) and made the whole afternoon feel like a girl’s afternoon in. I never felt pressured at all

I just love this display.

For those of you who don’t follow me on Twitter, Macnunu and I spent 8 days together in NYC early in October for my Birthday. I refer to her as Xtine or Nunu most of the time though Labbit, Domo, and Mona referred to us as Tine1 or Tine2 (I was Tine2 since I’m younger, haha).

I don’t have a lot of pictures from NYC! The biggest part of this is that after hauling the cameras around the first day and not taking pictures Nunu and I only decided to take them around when we ‘knew’ we’d be sight-seeing… so all of the pictures I have are from the same 3 days. Haha. Also because my skin was AWFUL the entire trip so I didn’t feel like documenting it very often . It’s almost back to normal though still dry now, so I’m hoping to get my FOTD-groove back eventually.

An awful lot of our pictures are like this one. We had a fun day going through the Museum of Natural History although we lost steam after 2 floors LOL.

I can has also?

Labbit and Domo were both insistent we take pictures of the giant whale, and then we nearly forgot and ran to find it before the museum closed! Haha.

A picture largely for my mother, since every night the conversation was as follows:

“Are you home yet?”
[Most of the time] “Yes, we just got here.”
“Did you see Radio City Music Hall?”

We didn’t actually see a Broadway show since most of them were sold out! Also Nunu is afraid of clowns so no Cirque du Soleil. Hoping that we see a show next time!

Rockefeller Centre, while we were trying to figure out how to get back to Labbit at Saks Fifth Avenue. I think they were prepping the area for the eventual skating rink/Christmas Tree ’cause there was construction stuff the whole time we were in NYC in the area!

St. Patrick’s Cathedral – didn’t go inside since it seemed weird to go into a church just to take pictures, plus we were always en route somewhere, and it was under construction. There are no churches like this in Calgary! I love the ornate architecture!

I just realised that even though we passed the actual Bronze Atlas statue twice … I only have a picture of the lego version. Oops.

I am very happy to be home, but I loved my trip, skin issues non-with-standing. At least a couple more entries to come (mostly so I can relive all of my amazing meals while we were there!). <3. Thank you again to Labbit, Domo and Mona for hosting these two Tines for a week!!

So I may possibly spend a little too much time at my Holt Renfrew for someone who doesn’t even work in the downtown core, but in my defense it’s a nice mall to spend the day at when I’m off during the week since there are enough sporadic free Wi-Fi spots and there’s lots of department and makeup stores for me to while time away in.

Last Saturday I was invited to Giorgio Armani’s Runway event celebrating the launch of their new Armani Eyes to kill Stretch Mascara! I got to spend the afternoon with the lovely Miriam (above) who did my makeup. As it was Halloween weekend we decided to do another green version of my Envy look!

This is my beautiful counter. I adore, adore, adore my GA counter at Holt Renfrew Calgary – I always make a point at stopping by when I’m downtown and the two brand specialists, Rachel and Talia, are always happy to chat with me about upcoming launches, events at the store, and life in general I’m so happy to have met these two ladies!

A tiny portion of the products used As the event was primarily geared towards the mascara, all of the products used came from the permanent line! I came completely bare-faced so Miriam applied skincare and primer before makeup. I believe the 6.5 powder is what she used to contour on me!

My Fellow Sinners

The star of this look is by the far the eyes, and since I promised Yumeko I’d review the new Maybelline quads (I thought I had, but… hadn’t) I crossed my fingers and hoped that the quad would be pigmented enough to use for this challenge! Thankfully I wasn’t disappointed

Maybelline Eye Studio 15 Forest Fury was the most eye-catching quad for me after Amethyst Ablaze, and I think has the best pigmentation for this series for me. Other than the very top eyeshadow, all the shadows have a satin finish. The top cream shade is very glittery. They applied well with a brush and have a soft, somewhat powdery texture, but I didn’t have any application or fall-out issues. I did wear these over a green base as well as a primer but I’d say they have medium-strong pigmentation.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!! 

I still don’t have a costume so I’m just going to do a bright eyelook and hand out candy in my Hello Kitty ear’d hoodie tomorrow. I’ll add the remaining 6 deadly Sins once they are all posted!

I’m sure that the beauty blogging scene has probably hit saturation on these lovely little shadows but now that my collection is as complete as I can make it (pending new releases) and I have finished enabling all of my beauty friends into buying them, I figured it was time for a round-up

Also, someone else should benefit from my need to complete sets of things. Haha. Like the Armani Eyes to Kill Silk Eyeshadows, once I started buying the L’Oreal Colour Infallible Eyeshadows I had to own all of them . They are actually spelled COLOR but I am Canadian and I will be using the ‘u’ throughout this post.

First off, a look at the packaging:

- I prefer to keep them as they are in the ‘cover’ photo for this post, but even the printed labels are colour-coded which makes it super easy to find which colour you want and grab it quickly
- The jars are plastic and have a plastic insert – MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THIS. The shadows crumble easily when poked or if the surface is poked and the plastic insert helps re-compress the shadows which apply like a powder/cream hybrid, though these are definitely powder.

It kind of bothers me that I’m missing two to fill my tray but a dear friend is helping me with that

From Left to Right:
001 Time Resist White: A sparkly, shimmery, white. This is a bit too frosty for me to use as a hilight but if I’m wearing really bright looks I don’t have similarly coloured bases for, this is my go-to as it doesn’t alter the colour of powder eyeshadows much (if at all).

002 Hourglass Beige: A neutral beige. I often use this as a brow hilight and as a base for neutral looks. This is probably the colour I think everyone should own as it makes a very pretty one-colour look when blended out for the days you have no time to do makeup

There is no 003, I’m not sure why!

004 Forever Pink: This is really a gold infused peach. It’s still very pretty, but not pink enough for yours truly

005 Purple Obsession: A pearl-finished dark purple. It’s much brighter in the swatch than it appears on the lid for me!

From Left to Right:
006 All Night Blue: A shimmery navy blue. This is one of my favourite colours, and the only thing comparable in my collection is the Hello Kitty Charmmy Eyeshadow stick in Navy – but that has a bit of red-toned glitter. I love this shade!

007 Unlimited Sky: A shimmery sky-blue. This is more sky-blue on lighter skinned people, but it’s still pretty (and I still had to own every colour)

There is no 008 that I can find either!

009 Permanent Kaki: First off, I feel like it should be KHAKI, but I am not in charge of spelling. A satin army green. You’ll see this in use in my upcoming SINS post!

These next Infallibles were part of L’Oreal’s summer collection, and unlike the rest of the line (except for the missing numbers) these are matte. I find the texture quite odd and lacking in pigmentation when compared to the rest of the line!

016 Coconut Shake: A matte cream. I’ll use this if I want a toned-down neutral look (i.e. for work). Also makes a good brow-bone hilight for more subtle looks.

017 Sweet Strawberry: A matte reddish-pink. I wanted to love this because of the colour but it kind of makes me look like I have pink eye. Might try it as a blush next time I pick it up!

018 Blue Curacao: A bright turquoise blue. This is very similar to Sugarpill’s Afterparty but… matte.

019 is a green matte shadow, but I don’t have it (and considering the texture of these, I don’t think I’ll ever own it!)

020 Pebble Grey: A matte medium grey. I think this would be a good base for a smokey eye, but it is kind of muddy on me.

These newest lovelies were a CP from my dear Vicky and are part of L’Oreal’s fall collection L’Or L’Or L’Or. Two additional shades were released in Singapore and I’m trying to track those down!

021 Sahara Treasure: A shimmery champagne. I love this colour.

022 is Emerald Lame and 023 Black Onyx can be seen here on Rouge Deluxe. I’m tracking these down!

024 Bronze Goddess: An old gold colour, this is probably my favourite Infallible hands down, and I haven’t WORN it on my eyes yet. So pretty!

There is no 025 or 026 as far as I can tell!

027 Goldmine: An shiny white-gold. This is the Infallible with the most shimmer So pretty!

I love all of these (except the matte ones) and I hope this post has convinced you track down a few to try! The wear time on these is excellent, and they apply nice and smoothly over a primer. I showered with these swatches on and still had traces after soaping up and scrubbing for a few minutes! They come off easily with makeup wipes or a bi-phase remover.

Vacations are absolutely exhausting! I’m typing this entry up sitting in EWR as there is no wifi but it’s given me a chance to reflect on my last week and go ‘Whew!’ at everything I’ve been able to do

Sorry for being somewhat MIA since the blog move – not only did work become insanely busy but my face decided it would be a good time to flip out again! Thought I’d return with a post that looks at a snapshot of what @macnunu and I got to chow down on while in NYC!

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Labbit and Domo by Xtine a few months before the trip and I can definitely say that this trip would have been drastically different without them!

These meals are not in order, and are iPhone captured mostly because we were all impatient and dug into food right away. Haha.

Xiao Long Bao!! I’m still bitter that we don’t have these in Calgary. We had pork soupy buns, and pork and crab soupy buns, but I prefer the plain pork!

Fried soupy buns! Is there a ‘proper’ Chinese name for these? The wrapper on these was nice and crispy but there was not very much soup

Neopolitan style ‘white’ pizza with olive oil, buffalo mozzarella, mushrooms, prosciutto, and truffle oil. AMAZING. My new favourite style of pizza!

Uni, another type of food that I can’t get fresh in Calgary. So good with the raw quail egg! Did these with Xtine and Domo

Matcha shaved ice and Taro Bubble Tea in K-Town – shared these with XTine, Mona, and Labbit but the shaved ice was mostly flavoured by the ice cream! The fresh fruit was nice though, and this serving was gigantic!

Chicken Bobotie from BraaiNYC. This was weirdly sweet. I ate more of XTine’s Lamb Biryani, though I did like the coconut rice!

S’mores frozen custard, fresh lemonade, and a Shake Shack cheeseburger! So delicious
